I have a question and I know this is possible but its more of a question of should I. I have a Robinson Arms XCL-L 7.62×39 Heavy Barrel coming and I want to shoot corrosive ammo out of it as I have a bunch here and was partly why I bought it. I cannot find anything anywhere that says that you should or should not shoot corrosive. It’s not chrome lined as far as I know. Do you think its ok? I will clean it after every outing but I have heard some barrels start rusting within hours.
I don’t see why not, as long as it’s cleaned thoroughly. Expensive gun to damage.
I don’t think the 858 has a chrome lined barrel either and all I’ve put through it is corrosive
its all about the cleaning , corrosive is cheap but comes with more maintenance. sure wouldn’t stop me as i dont mind the cleaning.
I actually found out that its a chrome lined barrel as well. Its SO easy to takedown that it would easily be able to handle corrosive, but I did find non-corrosive for about 2 cents per round more. So I am going to stick with that.
In the end its all about cleaning with corrosive. I think today I may go shoot it for the first time. Have had it for about a week and its killing me knowing I haven’t shot it yet!
Awesome, I’d love to get one of those rifles!
Went out and for a quick 100 rounds with it as I didn’t have much time and just needed to shoot it, and I love it! Accurate and a pleasure to shoot. Still figuring out the gas system as its adjustable but it worked with cheap Chinese ammo on all settings. Just have to figure out whats best. I got the heavy barrel and was kind of on the fence about it as I know the light barrel makes the gun at least a pound lighter. But yesterday confirmed that it was a good purchase, shot 40 rounds in a couple of min and the barrel was barley warm. I tend to do that and with the cheaper ammo want to shoot the shit out this thing. So I think it was a good buy. I will post some videos when I have some.
